Is anyone familiar with the Haltech unit? I know the MoTech unit is badass, but its a little pricey. I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a bunch of electronic components (VPC, AVC-R, GCC, AFC, etc.) when I go single. Tuning the unit is not a concern because there is bound to be someone with a schema already. I'm just looking at the feasibility of this unit, the reliability, and the performance.

Anyone have any opinion on this?
Will this do what I want it to do?

hi
i have mount a elektromotive in my supra and i prefere a stand alone system.
you have more presice tuning of your engine.
i mounted also haltek first, but i had some truble becouse it was defect (brand new).
elektromotive is little more easyer to tune, but is also little more expencive.
i am just 30 min from you so if you want you can come and see on my system

Overall I would say, pretty good. I run Haltech in my MA61 conversion. I have a friend that runs a TECII in a Supra turbo, and the software is killer (windows upgrade), currently Haltech has no upgrades for their software. If I were to do it all over again I would pick the slightly higher priced TECII. It is far more upgradeable than Haltech at this tiime. Having fun with it though. :)

Hey -
I have a Haltech system running my Single Turbo Supra, 12-injectors.

So far it's doing a great job, very good idle, good response and data logging.

Sounds very inticing. Erik, email me at [email protected] so we can get together and take a look at the unit. I've done some research and it seems a bit pricey, but it might be far better performance wise.

Wait, I thought that the TEC-II didn't support coil-on-plug ignitions (one coil/cylinder).

I'm very interested in this topic, 'cause I'd rather spend a bit more on a complete manager than put a hodge-podge of satellite controllers on the stock ECU.

So far, the only controllers I really like from the descriptions are the Motec M8/M800 and the EFI technologies controllers. They have 3D ignition/fuel map controls in their software, plus lots of data logging goodies like a track map integrated with engine snapshots. But, I really don't have $10000+ to spend on a controller...

i had a choice of going motec, haltec and pectel. I chose the pectel for our 2jz and am very happy with the results. the secondary cal map lets me launch the car at 20+ psi at the lite. Kinda pricey but u get what u pay for.

This is the system I am kinda interested in getting. Just to give you a few highlights, you don't have to use a lap top to program it. It's got a handheld unit that you can either mount in the car or unplug when you're finished tuning. The ignition uses a Hall sensor and a seperate coil pack. You can also run additional injectors but they have to have the same rating as your primary injectors.
