OK so I have my eyes on a Supra in Maryland and I'm in Virginia. Basically I could use some advice on what I need to do to get the car legal to drive in Virginia since this is the first car I've bought by myself. I know the basic things from the DMV like getting the owner to sign a paper verifying the odometer reading and I know he needs to sign the title over to me so I can get it titled in Virginia. I am kind of in the dark about emissions laws though and what problems I might run into taking a car from MD to VA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You also may need a Bill of Sale, just stating what price he sold the car to you for (include VIN and all the specifics) and then you both sign that.

There shouldnt be much you need to worry about emissions since when you register the car, your DMV will send you a letter within a year telling you to go in for emissions. Not much to do with the state you bought it from.
