its good to have if you keep up proper maintence on your engine
tune ups, oil changes etc...

make sure you engine is running in tip top shape
no misfires, leaks, vaccum leaks etc...

FYI these engines have fuel cut
boost can only go up to 12 or 14 psi

do you know if it still has the stock headgasket on it?
if it does then its only a matter of time until it goes
remove your valve cover and see if you have headbolts or headstuds
if you have headbolts then go through the torqueing sequence and torque them down to 85ft lbs
when the engines was built toyota torque them down to 75ft lbs then later said they need to be 85 ft lbs
so i probably would not install a boost controller until you replace the headgasket or verify that it has been replaced

yea man toyota torqued it to 55ish ft/lbs haha 75+ is good

But welcome! and as long as your car is in GREAT shape and you take VERY good care of it, then yea sure. go a head a turn up the boost a bit and have some fun :) course you'll hit fuel cut if you go to high and then let the modding begin!
