Hello, I have a 94 tt 6sp and I finally attempted to fix that annoying leak from the differential. It seems to be coming from the axles seals. Well I have the differential off the car now but how do you get the axle shafts out. I have searched but found nothing. If someone who have done this before can give me some advice I would appreciate it thanks. Next thing I will invest on is the second volume of the manuals.

To remove the axle shafts use two of the original bolts that thread into it. Tighten both until the shaft starts to come out. Then you can bolt the slide hammer on it and pull it off. You could just remove it by tightening both bolts until it comes off but then the dust shield will get bent. I did it this way since i was replacing the seals and dust cover anyways.

thanks for the reply Konrad, but you are talking about the front axles aren't you, is the same process applied for the rear axles, that they will come off with a slide hammer?

I'm referring to your left+right rear differential side gear shafts (which bolt to the axles.) NOT the front to rear driveshaft.
