I just recently finished my 1jz swap into my mkiii supra and im using the rodeo belt, i cranked the car fine, but for some reason my belt is walking forward!! as if it wanted to come off the cam gears!! i still have about 3/4 of the belt on the cam gear but am affraid of it coming off, does anyone know what may cause this??!!!

please someone help me out im afraid of the belt slipping and bending all the valves..!!

your valves won't bend..but, did you make sure you put on the belt guide on? That would be the round metal plate on the cranksaft. It sits between the timing belt sprocket and the crank pulley.

The JZ engines are non-interference. You can toss timing belts all day and nothing will happen.

i dont have that.... that guide that your talking about.... what does it look like? and where can i get it?

so i mount the belt and then the guide or does the guide go on before the belt? even though the image shows that the guide goes first i just want to make sure.../ can i use my 7m one?

it will be the crankshaft timing pulley > then put the belt > then the timing belt guide > then the cover > then the pulley

Before you put the cover on, there is also a small tab on the lower right that will need to be bolted on.

I believe all these belts work.
The belt is the same as the 1jz belt from what i remember but costs about $15 and not 150

i know the 2j parts are interchangeable, just wanted to make sure before i buy something i cant use, and i wanted to know if the 7m one fit so i wouldnt have to buy anything at all.. thanks for your help guys
