i am going to CMI this sunday 2 drag my car and need to know what 2 expect outta myself...

My car (93.5 supra NA 5 speed) will be running with Apexi N1 exhaust and Apexi power Intake...i try to launch at 2800 most of the time and i am a pretty good driver.

Is there anything i can do to pull a better time, i mean i basically wanna hit 14's is that possible??? Is there any basic mods to do on my car that can be done be Sunday fairly inexpensive...ie tweakin something , should i take out my spare tire is it worth it? what can i do? My friend has a 93 integ and is talkin hella shit about me losin to him and i dont wanna see that happen his car is pretty slow...please any info would help a lot.

Peace, Nick

Well bro my advise is pull up to the staging light *concentrate* on it and if you can rev up to around 2800 is good and when its time to go try to put the power to the ground with the least amount of wheelspin possible but at the same time have the power on tap. As far as your friend in the integra i wouldnt worry about losing to him. You have an intake and exhaust so im thinkin you can hit High 14s if you drive it well. Also you *might* be able to try this but it may hurt your clutch tranny if its not built. Its a technique called powershifting where you Dont let off the gas keep it floored the whole way down the track and just with each gear shift put the clutch in slam it into the next gear and let it out as fast as you can. Be careful with that technique though i use it with a badass clutch but on stock i dont know how well it does AND its rough on the car and easy to mess up and not hit the next gear just make sure you are not outta practice. OK man thats my advise good luck and let us know how you did good or bad.

ya good luck on those runs and tell us how it went... do you really have to powershift? won't shifting really fast give the same effect with more control? you wouldn't lose any traction, yet you'll still be pushed back when shifting... powershifting is fun, and the car sounds nice when doing it and all that stuff but does it really make a difference? i'm just wondering... i don't have any track experience yet and am willing to learn the tricks of getting the best track times. well, when you think about it powershifting IS shifting really fast, but you are letting the gas go between shifts so it isn't. ok that sounded dumb... someone enlighten me on the subject... "powershifting: does it really make a differenceon the track?"

Defintely take out all the extra weight you can.... the spare tire/jack, any subs or amps, ect. Take out your drivers side floor mat so it doesn't get caught on your pedals/feet. If you can get drag radials or slicks, that will help a lot! But if not, just drop the air pressure in your street tires to ~25psi or so. If on street tires, don't go through the water box or do a big burnout. Do a short burnout just to clean off the tires. When I stage, I like to use the handbrake to keep the car from rolling.... this allows you to let the clutch out a bit to get a feel for where it engages, without rolling and redlighting. It takes a bit of practice, but it works well. Good luck, let us know how you do.

yeah i'll pass on the powershifting.

I got the apex MK3 turbo intake and i will put it in on saturday before i run.

oh and an update, my friend in the integ was secretly trying to get nitrous by sunday and not tell me. But he cant get it now... hahaha so no worries.
Also i ran my friends 5.0 mustang (5spd) today, he has intake/exhaust (flows w/offroad H pipe) so he is pushin well over 200 with a lot of torque and i BEAT him, i was ahead by like a hood at the end, that gave me some confidence. I wanna hit like a 14.8.

I ran a 15.5 at 91mph, i need new tires and to pracice my launch i can hit high 14's easy. O h and my friend that was talkin shit in the integra ran 16's all day so at least i beat him, hahaha...i need to go again!
