Wtf's a postmaster?
Quote: "Postmaster (or Postmistress) refers to the head of an individual post office. When a postmaster is responsible for an entire mail distribution organization (usually sponsored by a national government), the title of Postmaster General is commonly used."

I think he/she was trying to refer to a moderator. :1poke:
There's a virus on this server. Last night I was reading some posts and my anti-virus program raised two red flags. I tried to post last night about it but I forgot my password for the forums. Someone must have posted a link to a worm or something. I just wanted to let the moderator/postmaster know about it.
Why in the world did you post this in the MKIV performance section? There are a lot better places to post this.

How about the post is about how to contact the postmaster? Or the fact that there are moderators "supposely" checking the forums? How about you take your useless posts elsewhere.....
You rang?
Weve been called MANY things since ive been a mod but postmaster.......????
Not to rain on this guys parade or anything, but anti-virus software gets set off by a lot of things that are not viruses. From the sounds of it he doesn't know much about the internet, his anti-virus software, or computers in general. I could be wrong, but I doubt whatever set his "red flags" off was a virus.

PS: Things of this nature would be better posted in the Forum Problems & Suggestions section I would think.
I have a letter to send to my dear granny in Wichita. Is this the right place? :hay:

When setting up a thread forum or email system, one must assigned a postmaster account. Sort of like the administrator account on a windows machine or root on a unix type server. So postmaster is the "admin" account for threads, forums, and email systems.

Also, I work with viruses so I know clearly a virus when I see one. I do know about false-positives and false-negatives. The virus I encountered last night was a worm of sort coming off a link.

I am only reporting this so that you (supraforums.com) do not get blacklisted and protect your forum guests... Just looking out for you..

I know what you were trying to say. Not the right terminology even in the slightest bit though. In the histroy of computing I have never heard anyone refer to anything or anyone as a postmaster.

A link to a virus does not mean this site is infested with a virus. If the virus does not physically live on the sites servers then you are contacting the wrong people. If you believe there is a link to a virus, then you should contact the owner of the domain being linked too.

Blacklisted? Blacklisted from what? Do you think this is like a casino or club or something?

If you know that this is a virus, care to share it with me. There are plenty of tech savy individuals here. Location of said virus/worm and if you know the name of the virus/worm, that would be a start. If you can't give any of that information then I don't think anyone is going to take you seriously. Not that anyone actual is right now.
