here is some info on it for you its not cheap but seems worth it the link is at the end!

PHR Alternator Upgrade. Complete Kit! Finally there is an alternator upgrade for the Supra that is powerful enough to run twin electric fans, twin fuel pumps, ignition upgrades, gauges and other such items without draining the battery. We contracted with a large international supplier to manufacture these exclusive alternators for us, so you wont find them elsewhere! Other retailers sell similar upgrade alternators, but be wary of these cheaper domestic-made imitations. Powerhouse Racing uses only genuine Nippon Denso units with custom windings, larger cooling fins, and a high-capacity voltage regulator to give you the same Japanese quality and reliability you have come to expect on your Supra. Output current is conservatively rated at 175 amps maximum (100 amp on the stock auto/ 90 amp on the stock six speed). This gives you the ability to run stereo upgrades as well as the full complement of performance modifications without the need for two batteries. We highly recommend the use of the Optima Deep Cycle battery for maximum performance with this alternator. Includes all hardware, a high output shielded battery cable with 200 amp fuse, and one high quality drive belt. This is a direct bolt-in replacement with no modifications necessary. Another Powerhouse exclusive, and carries a full one-year unlimited mileage warranty. Price: $829.99

Hi,

anyone? thomas? know about these? who makes them for the supra? how much are they? are the worth the hassle?

right now i'm running 800watts rms, but i'm planning on going to more soon. I got a new optima orange top and a lighting audio 1 farad cap

i'm asking because i'm thinking about adding twin electric fans, hids, some more interior neon, and of course more wattage.

thanks

Ting

Try suprastore.com or email ctc motorsports
[email protected], he can get them as well all the way up to 200 amps!

You don't need an expensive alteranator upgrade or even stiffening caps, for about $100 bucks you can just install one of these!

From what the stereo shop tells me its somewhat new, ment as a better solution to caps. Its a 12v battery, made for car audio, it acts as a buffer / direct power supply for my amps. The guy told me its equilivent to like 20 caps in its ability to supply constant juice without any strain to the stock electrical system. It gets recharged from the alterantor during times of low demand.
Any name brand or specs on the 'cap replacement' unit?? Thanks

It looks alot like a Jetski/Motorcycle battery? From the picture anyways, 8D9 is the block the only thing that is involved in install? How much did you pay for it?

rockford fosgates 100 farad capacitor. baddest mother fucker ever made! i can play my stereo for about 8 minutes just off the power stored inside this thing. and thats way good considering it draws 250+ amps for a total of 3k watts.

I'll see what I can find out tonight when I get home, and take a closer picture for ya. Stand by.
8D9-turbo,
Are you talking about a Bat-cap, if so those are = to 100 1 farad capacitors!, I have one, it also discharges like a battery, its pretty cool and works very well. Highly recommended if you dont want to spend the $$$ for the big alternator upgrade, or just get a 2nd battery, Optima Dry Cell is good.

RE: high output alternator

www.mechman.com mechanical man-1-760-956-7596
call them and ask them about their pro power 63g series alt. this is what i have in my car. 230 amps cold and 200 amps hot. and the best part, $534.:D
if you're doing a huge install, i recommend installing a 1 farad cap on the alternator.
I have 2 similar to the batteries that 8D9 showed you. Im using them for my sound system alone. The installer said both my amps would destroy my car so i had to get those batteries and a isolater to charge them. He said the isolater was like a mini alternator that would charge the 2 batteries. Let me know if you are interested.
awesome
Iraggi Alternators.
615-287-7991

he quoted me ~$400 for i *think* it was a 200A for a auto MKIV. a 6-speed was around $350. give him a call, he makes great alternators from what i hear.

if you don't want to spend that much then look into a batcap.

here's some of his on e-bay:

http://www.gostartech.com/

They reuse the stock frame, with everything else being upgraded. They rewound my stock 90A MR2 alternator to 160A. Cost was $328. I was running 5 electric fans, and just under 1000W of audio gear, and never had a problem with this alternator.

i heard ohio generator was a very creditable company.
they are but when i called them for a quote it was over $400 + core. at that time i also called Iraggi and alterstart and Iraggi was the cheapest and the only ones that did not need a core but it takes about 2 weeks to get a alt. from them because they are made to order.
