Dirt harms the enigne by getting in to the oil supply by sticking to the cyl walls and by passing the rings, also causes dammage to the rings if it fuses to the cyl wall. Depending on what is sucked up it could be big enough to harm the turbo even something very small getting sucked up at 140000RPM will caus lots of dammage.. Take for example why many people have chipped fins on the turbo...
Chipped fins are a direct results of having something that shouldn't have been sucked up though the intake.
I'd say away form mega dirt flow.. Buy a K&N and just keep oiling it.
