Trying to remove my stock differential from the housing. 95 automatic. I've removed the 8 bolts from each sides axle flange. Are these bearings pressed in? Does this job require special tools? :dunno:

Did you remove the diff yet? How much work is it? I'm about to swap mine out too. I just bought a used stock diff because I have one of the 97 auto with the open diff that they fudged up from the factory.

The outer hubs are held in by snap rings. I had to get crazy on mine with two pry bars and a portapower. It's a total pita and attack you once they come loose.

I actually paid some crusty gear head $50 to reasemble my new diff. He even cleaned and painted my diff. gloss black. It is crucial that you set your pinnion gear to the correct crush load spacing, whatever it called, or you will have MASS DISTRUCTION!!!
