i have a heater pipe in the way
but most of all i get get to the bolts thru the bottom of the car there is black metal in the way
is their an easy way to get at these bottom bolts or just busted knuckles and twisted fingers

Busted knuckles and twisted fingers. You would probablly have better luck getting at them from underneath the car. Just work your way around underneath until you find a suitable position to get to them

checkout ma70.com and head over to Bishop's section. He has a complete write-up on how to remove the turbo, down to the tools you'll need!

that is an excellent write up. For reference i jack up the front end, remove the passenger wheel, and turn the wheel to the right until it locks. It free's up some room.

daaaaaayum all that for a few bolts...no way. Way too lazy for that. I rather bust my knuckles and bleed :ugh2:

ratcheting wrenches helped me do it, it was still a bitch to take off. I ended up bending the coolant hardlines to get to it then bending them back into place.

i hear ya already soaked them all in pb blaster
hopeing to get their tommorow but weather is supposed to suck so who knows
so is thier an engine shield under their because my car is white and their is what looks to be black metal somewhat under the motor other than the support and the suspension

I never had a problem doing them from above, and I don't even have any ratcheting wrenches. The only issue I ran into in taking the turbo off was with the oil lines, first time around I tried undoing them from the turbo itself, then I realised it was much easier to just undo them from the block.

yeah the turbo oil line was going to the next question and i figure the dp is going to be a pain in the ass
figure i am going to buy a nice exhaust manifold that relocates and makes maintance much much easier

I doubt you'll find a manifold to just basically relocate the turbo further from the block, if that's what you mean. The easiest way to get the DP off is undo the 4 bolts that hold the elbow onto the back of the turbo. The one close to the block and down low is the worst. Much easier to get at it from underneath. Warming up the engine a little bit helps, but I don't know how far you've gone already.

The three bolts you can see that hold the elbow to the turbine should be easy. There is one more underneath the one on the right. Get to that one from the bottom and it'll be a lot easier.

And be careful with those two coolant lines. They may be on there pretty good because of the heat they're exposed to. I put a tiny hole on the L-shaped hose when I replaced the turbo in my last car, just from pulling on it! Be patient. I think it took me like 6 hours to take it out the first time. I can probably do it in 2 very comfortably now.

It takes less than five minutes to jack up the car, place a jackstand and remove the wheel. Then you get to lay on your back (if you have a roller) and have easy access to everything and no busted knuckles. But hey to each his own, good luck that engine bay looks pretty rusty.

well i have found very little rust on the actual body and so far other than the turbo everything has come apart to easily like the kid i bought it from returned it to stock after blowing it up
i have all kinds of sludge on the intake side of the motor
and the hose going from what i think is the oilpump to the valve cover was folded in half
the only time it started sounded like serious rod knock the car never started after the first time

oh and everythig already has a nice coating of the miracle pb blaster
so hopefully it all decides to come apart on friday
will post pics of what i get done
