There is a well detailed white-face guage install outlined on MKIV.com, but I have a question...

...How does he just "slip" the guage face over the needle w/out removing it?

The center hole is big enough to allow for this. It is a little tricky <or scary> at first but very easy to do.

You need to slip the face over the long part of the needle and then slide it UNDER the black hub at the center. It will slide all the way under to the slender post and you will have ample room to get the back end over the tail of the needle.
