I think the o2 is set up for mid engine low engine monitoring. At WOT the ecu goes to full rich so the o2 is out of the system at that point if i recall.
Thats why i fyou notice on the engine dyno, they are always full rich so they lean them out some.
The O2 is the main control item for the A/F ratio. If it's making more than a 10% correction at idle and part throttle the computer will alter the the full throttle fuel maps. So it affects both open and closed loop.
