Been wanting to know. Suppose I order an aristo motor, and the seller has no idea what year the motor came out of. How can you tell? I ask because I wouldn't know what kind of engine harness to get (OBDI or II).

Anything 99+ will have the VVT-i system on the intake cam and will be OBDII. 96-98 motors will be OBDII as well but all the sensors should have the same connections as OBDI. If you are planning on buying a new harness anyway I would just get one that is from the same year as the car it will be going into. I wouldn't recommend a VVT-i motor unless you have an experienced shop installing it anyway.

Alright so it doesn't matter if the engine is obdI/II? either both obdI or II engine harness will work right? I will have to get an obdII then
