Ok so I'm new here, I just want to know if I need to change anything on this car. The owner was my neighbourg, he never took it, almost and told me he never push it. I read alote of things about the head gasket and other things and Idk if I should put metal head gasket. I want to keep the car stock. So tell me what I should do! Thank you.

That's a bit of an open ended question. :)

First off, congrats on the car. Second, we have no idea of the condition of the car, how it runs, or any obvious issues.

The BHG is for sure a concern, but doesn't warrant an immediate tear down and replacement of yours unless you have symptoms of a BHG. Those symptoms can be found widely here by a search.

Beyond that, "regular" car issues like brakes, shocks, air filters, oil changes, and such would be at the top of my list if I just bought any used car.

Any "Supra" defects will manifest themselves as you go along, and you will be able to find answers here.

Welcome to the forum.

31K miles?? It looks like it was kept in the garage all these years. The good news is that I would assume you're quite some distance away from a BHG. You might ask here on the forums about a car with that few miles if a simple re torquing of the head will "fix" the head gasket problem. Its possible, but I don't know how 30+ years of age might make that impractical.

The Air filter WILL be a challenge for you to check. The design was not user friendly then and it takes a bit of work to be able to open the housing to replace the filter.

Yep I'll just change the radio, but not the speakers
Good plan. Hopefully the stock speakers survived time. If not, get ready for a BIG pain in the rear for changing them. The fronts require you to take off the door panel, and the rear requires you to take off the plastic fender interior pieces. I've done it and its some work. Hold on to the original radio. Somebody may want it.

Did you have any problems with fuel pump, fuel filter? I see some things about the fuel pump and I just want your opinion.

I just had my fuel pump changed out by my local mechanic. I did it myself 20 years ago, but I got up under there this time and said...nah.. The filter was a FRAM for $18 and I paid $35 to have them put it in. Its in a very difficult place to get to, up above the differential.

From what I understand Toyota never thought it should be changed so they put it in a difficult place on purpose to discourage changing it. I don't think they thought we'd be working on these cars 30 years later.

I have not had fuel pump problems that I know of.

Be on the lookout for oil leaks from places like the cam position sensor rubber O ring and the front cam seals. The power steering pump can also leak. I rebuilt mine with a kit from eBay. I've also replaced the refrigerant rubber hoses and rebuilt the compressor. Yours may still have some life left being that it's low miles. It would be a good idea to get a year specific Toyota dealer repair manual which show up on eBay from time to time. There is also a 1990 model online dealer Supra manual Click here to see it. Get a good torque wrench. Wheel lug nut torque is 76 foot-pounds. Check the air pressure in your spare and make sure you know where the jack is located. Water tends to get in the spare tire well. I leave that rubber plug that the tire rests on partially ajar just in case. Check the pH of your coolant and change it if it's below 8.0 I use the old school phosphate silicate green radiator fluid 50-50. Make an assessment of your brake fluid and or clutch fluid. If it's dark change it with DOT3. I like Valvoline brand. You might want to get an idea how much brake pad is still remaining. Front pads wear faster than rear pads. If you get a pulsating brake pedal, upgrade to drilled and slotted rotors in front. If you ever replace the thermostat be careful not to over tightening the two 10mm bolts on the housing because they strip easily. I use a thin layer of silicone as a gasket.
