I used to think the HKSSBOV could not leak, but now with my new har pipes and turning up the boost a little I think they can.
When boosting with the new pipes and slightly higher boost (16LBS CT60trim) I began to hear air leaking/fluttering and I would lose power. It felt and sounded like a boost leak. So I checked all the hose clamps and boosted again, but still had the leak.

This is when I started staring at my HKSSBOV screw that was backed out all the way. I always believed it didnt matter if it was all the way in or out, but I decided to tighten it about 6 turns in. This cured that High boost fluttering problem. I do not think this was compressor surge, but was a loose screw on the BOV. And yes I know its normal for these to flutter at LOW booost, but thats another debate. This was high boost!

Anyone else run into this problem?

Yeah, i believe you have to adjust the bov and that it wouldn't leak after adjusted, so HKS claims... and yes, RIP Ben... :(, aight peace :chicken:
HMMM... thanks for the info, i never thought they could leak....
Yeah, I was always under the impression that the positive pressure pressed the valve up against the housing, at least that's how it looks like when I was taking mine apart and putting it back together. Interesting.

Search for my post. Word from his family is that he died as a result of massive bleeding in the brain (aneurysm). Tox screen results were never released publicly, but from my somewhat basic knowledge of drugs and knowing some of Topus' habits, I suspect Oxycontin. I don't want to speculate, however.
