i have an 89 turbo manual, just put in a jdm crate.
its idleing at 1500, and once its warmed up it will idle at around 800 after letting it sit for a couple min after warm. what could be the problem? is my throttle off? timing is good, spark plugs/wires are good. not sure what the issue could be.

Isnt factory idle speed 650 RPMS?

Thats normal.


The purpose of the ISCV is to hold the idle at about more or less 1500rpms while the engine is cold. Then once the engine gets warm enough, it will drop down to normal idle about 500-700rpms.

All cars do it. Hondas, Nissans, Fords, GMs, Toyotas, etc...

if it's not stalling or missing doesn't sound like much of a problem....

every once in a while when i accelerate really fast and just left off the gas it will stall so thats another issue i forgot to add, but it drives fine. but when it warms up, it'll go down to about 800 rpm. but when i give it gas it'll idle back at 1500 rpm. so thats what i dont get

Check your dashpot.

Same thing happens with me, I notice the tempurature outside, and the temp of the engine will change how it idles. I wonder if there is actually something wrong with my car.. :/

Looks like you have a MK4 Supra anyways, slightly different. And this is a pretty old thread
