So how is the 5-speed holding up with the new motor? Did you change the reverse connector on the 6-speed harness that controls the reverse light with the old 5-speed harness connector?
Gene, the w58 5spd feels fine behind the bpu engine, it obviously has very short gearing but by far does this thing haul ass, the gearing is so short so your at 140 before you know it! With these turbos too they spool so damn quick (stock jdm's) and the gearing i spin tires in 1st, 2nd, and almost all the way to the top of 3rd. The w58 i dont think can handle hard shifts, because sometimes when i was doing drive bys for a friend of mine for some video footage, going into 3rd real fast i could definatley hear grinding and feal it on my hand....but it goes into gear, u know how some trannys are built to withstand the power and fast shifts, but i dont beleive this tranny can do it....it would need some work probably...but definatley worth it....its a fun gear box though!gmacrae said:Great work, congrats on the swap Ben. So you're using the stock n/a w58 5speed? how does it feel behind a bpu engine?

Thanks man! yeah hopefully we can set something up soon, i was talking with hung and bao and we were thinking of setting up a barbecue or something...ill post something in the regional definatley!Skip n his Dawg said:Nice swap ben! Hope to see it at a meet around here so i can check it out.
I used the RPS Max Clutch w/ Street Disc. I used the auto tensioner, i did not use the EFI resistor pack i actually found something from a member on here who forwared me to look into these. i actually found them in junk yards. They work great! i will get a picture up of them, i have one spare one if you plan to stick with JDM injectors btw!Urban Customs said:hey great swap. im actually doing the same thing right now. what clutch did you get for your 5 spd. i got the max pressure plate w/6 puck disk rps.
when you swapped over from auto to stick did you buy the 6spd belt tensioner?
so you basically bought the jdm motor and bought a 6 spd harness and re used the jdm ingiter. but since you went with jdm motor did you use the efi resistor pack with the us harness?

Urban Customs said:hey ben. so let me get this straight. you went with us harness, us maf, jdm ecu, jdm turbos and injectors.
what i was planning on doing was us 6 spd harness, us auto ecu, us maf, us igniter, us efi resistor pack, jdm turbos, jdm injectors.
you think this will work?
Nope, I have an SP Built Auto w/3800 Stall. And man with those JDM Twins...Instant Spool. But now I'm Single with a TC61. Loving it. I'm still running on my Stock 440cc Injectors on this single. I'm only running around 15-16 psi. I got larger injectors coming shortly - then the boost goes up, up, up!gmacrae said:Also Begone; are you running a bpu TT with the w58 also? how is your gearbox holding up?
Cheers

True, true on the Sump issue...
thanks man, thats awsome how much power are you pushing through the tranny at the moment? i hope it holds for you as well. Yeah gotta love those vette ownersjrlewis0550 said:Congrats on the swap. I also have a converted NA to JDM T67 with the 5 speed. Trans feels great so far i have been beating on it alot the last few weeks and no issues. Hope it holds for you, and keep those vettes and stangs on there toes.
Im not exactley sure, i haven't added it up...but it wasn't that bad really, maybe ive just over excited and dont care at the moment, im just glad its running, and running strong at that!Jimnen said:Looks pretty good...how much did it set you back to go from na to JDM TT?
Both usdm and jspec motors come with map sensors located on the intake manifold. The us harness already has a plug for the map so it just plugs right in without any problems.SuperRunner said:So on the MAP sensor, where is it located? Did you get it with the motor or did you n eed to buy it seperate? Also, how does it plug into the US harness?

Enjoy your new power!
Thanks Jeremy, btw the ETTC switch is amazing, i get some smoke at idle though now after the switch...any ideas? the switch is really nice though, thanks again man!JeremyBlackwell said:Very nice work Ben! Congrats for being innovative!
How are you turning up the boost? I didn't have a cat with my JDM and so I needed a restrictor plate so that I wouldn't over boost.Sins4u33 said:ALSO does anyone know what PSI or WHP the stock JDM injectors start to max out at? And does anyone know if any companys make an MKIV specific catch can?
Thanks guys!
