I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these. I was planning on putting two of these in the hatch area with a JL 500/1 running them both. So I guess my questions are: how do the subs sound? weak or strong bass? Is the 500/1 enough of an amp?

Thanks

Perfect!

depends wat type of bass u lookin for...wat speakers do u currently have and wat type of box will u be usin with the perfects, bandpass or sealed. the nice thing about the perfects is that they will give u really really clear bass, due to the aluminum woofers. I personaly like them a lot...not to over powerein but very clear in bass reproduction. In short...u cant go wrong with Perfects!!!

I've currently got Kappa Perfect's all the way around. Bass wise, I'm looking for something with good bass that can hit hard when need be. I went to a car audio store today and listened to the Perfects and they just didn't seem to hit that hard at all even with 50 Cent in it. I did listen to some Alpine Type R 12's and they sounded pretty damn nice. I do like the Kappa Perfect 6.1's over the Alpine Type R components.

dont forget that the shiva will need a much larger box than the perfects. between 2 and 3 cubic feet (sealed) for the shiva to .6 cubic feet for the kappa.

Its a huge difference when you see how little space you really have in a car. If you build a quality enclosure properly placed in the car you will have no problems having the Kappas do whatever you want.

Subs sound like hell when people put them in the wrong size enclosures which aren't very sturdy and in the wrong place for the type of vehicle.

well in a month or so I will be putting two of those 10" Infinity Kappa Perfects in the trunk if I can finish the fuel pump upgrade, peel n seal the trunk, and decide if I'm gonna fiberglass the bottom or not. I'll probably power them with a MTX amp around the 6500d range. will keep you updated when I get to it

Ask any good audio shop or installer and they will tell you that you need to break in the sub. BrianB on here, always breaks in his for about a week. Only doing low level listening and the subs will actually get louder because they are starting to free up. On the other hand, Perfect's are what I'm going with. I went back to the audio shop about 7 times this past week just to be sure and I'm sure now!!! 2 10" Perfects with a JL 500/1 pushing them. It will should sweet!!!!

Yeah I just got a Infinity 10.1D, I'll be powering it with a JBL amp running 300/1, so basically max RMS. I guess after I break the sub in I'll tell you how it is.

Break in period is really the most critical thing to me. I'm going to do what BrianB did and that is put 100w to them for a week, 200w for the next week, and then 300w for another week. That should give them ample time to break in. After those three weeks, let the hard hitting bass begin.

Hmmmm... no idea about break-in on sub's. Just one of the 2 subs rattled from the 1st second I turned on the power. I only had it in with 3 screws since the box still had to be painted, but even when I installed and of the screws and then took it out by itself, it still rattled. My buddy have the same problem with one of his Kappa 10's. (model below the Perfects) I still need to get off my butt and get that stuff replaced so I can have some music.

I've been listening to the turbos and BOV, so it hasn't been too bad. :p

The rattle was most likely something from the factory. Break in is critical. I have a buddy that got JL's and they have gotten louder as we've listened to them.

Breaking in a sub works! I played my subs at low volume, everday for 2 hours, for 2 weeks before I turned it up. 1 week is probably enough for most people.

Each day I would do a bench mark with my eyes closed, when the car was running, how responsive my subs were becoming.

By the 2 week break in, my subs were much louder and very responsive to the lower end of the spectrum.

Still, I kept it mild for a while after that, just to ensure I wouldn't break anything once I REALLY cranked it up! After dialing everything in, ANY type of music sounds amazing through my setup. From chest thumping kick drums to eye rattling bass, I can play my system with authority!
