I've currently got Kappa Perfect's all the way around. Bass wise, I'm looking for something with good bass that can hit hard when need be. I went to a car audio store today and listened to the Perfects and they just didn't seem to hit that hard at all even with 50 Cent in it. I did listen to some Alpine Type R 12's and they sounded pretty damn nice. I do like the Kappa Perfect 6.1's over the Alpine Type R components.

My friend just got two Alpine Type R 12's run by an Alpine MRD-M1000 1800 Watt max amp, and they pump pretty hard, and do sound really nice.

My box won't fit 2 12's. Plus, that's a hell of a lot of weight.

Each day I would do a bench mark with my eyes closed, when the car was running, how responsive my subs were becoming.

By the 2 week break in, my subs were much louder and very responsive to the lower end of the spectrum.

It is true that brake-in makes subs sound better but I really doubt you would be able to hear any changes in sound by day-to-day auditionings. The only way to tell the difference is to listen to a new sub and then listen to a broken-in sub within 30 seconds (auditory memory span). Otherwise all the differences you hear is the matter of imaginary perception.
