just my personal experience, I am Airforce too, but when I PCSed from Japan back to the U.S. I was a little upset that I had to give up my TTR. So I stripped her down completely and brought everything back with me in order to swap and clone her here. Like 00civicEX said, MKIII's are abundant. Took me a year though to find the perfect shell. Need less to say I own three supra's ATM and paid less that 4000 combined. Now I have an 89 NA, a 87 turbo (7m) and an 89 turbo shell for my 1jz swap to go into once I finally get to her. Gotta finish the wifes 87 turbo first though...lol. But all in all, the scene is still good here in the U.S. as a whole and just about anywhere you look on CL you can find an MKIII some where with in 6 hrs of driving. My NA was 6 hrs away, $750 with a BHG, changed gasket and 1.5 yrs later still going strong, my wife's 87 turbo was only 45 mins away with a BHG that ended up being a full rebuilt, and my 89 turbo shell for the 1jz swap was 4 hrs away. Just be patient and picky when you get back stateside. You'll find something. Not to mention you will be fairly close to canada and once these cars are over 25 yrs old you'll be able to bring one of the stock 1jz's they have over there back on U.S. soil no prob. That is if you are wanting to stick with the 1j. If you want to do what I did and strip your car to bring the heart and soul back, you will need to completely disassemble the engine and wrap everything really good with bubble wrap so the packer's wont be able to disguish exactly what they are putting on thier truck to be shipped back. You just tell them that they are spare car parts and that is all and will make it back in your HHG's no prob. WHen I mean disassemble I mean each piston would be indiviually wrapped in bubble wrap. Took me about a week to fully disassemble, clean and wrap every piece as well as have it prepacked for the movers.
