I want to install a dp on my 97' Supra, but keep the stock look and as close as possible to the stock sound when idling.

Question 1: Is there any major hp loss from installing a dp, but keeping the stock exhaust?

Question 2: What size dp is recommend for using the stock exhaust?

This will be my first mod.

Thanks

Get a 3" RMM downpipe. The DP frees up ~35 RWHP when used with a catback. If you have all this free flow, but then cram it into a little 2.5", highly restrictive catback at the end, you have just lost a lot of efficiency. A catback gives max maybe 10 HP, but it is an insult to leave the stock exhaust on the car!!

Once you get the DP on, you will want the catback. :D

I had this set up for a year or so. You will notice a huge dif, as opposed to cats. But IMO you are better off just getting a cat back too. You can get a stockish looking muffler. I have an apexi gt spec, which is one of the loudest, and it is not that much louder at idle. Moving and wot are a much diff story though:D Your stock exhaust should bolt right up to a 3 or 3.5 in dp
