I am inspecting a motor tomorrow that I may purchase, I would like to turn the motor over to make sure it turns freely but cant remember what size socket for the crank bolt it would need or if I have one large enough..Also gonna take the valve covers off what size allen keys are needed?

any tips?

thanks

well i dont know exactly but usually the toyota crank bolts are 21mm so get a couple sockets around that size the valve covers them self are not allens they are 10 mm bolts but the plastic covers are 6mm allens i believe . make sure you check compression . if it has the starter connected then hook up a battery jumper to spin the motor . dont buy the motor without knowing the compression any motor can spin freely. if the motor has been sitting for a while add alittle bit of oil to the cylinder . good luck
