Installing 97/98 turn signals on a 94, did you change the wiring?

Because the 1156 bulb used on 93-96 turn signals is too big to fit the 97/98 signals.

Plug and play my ass.

I did the same mod and I bought the factory toyota light sockets. It has been a while since I did the mod but I am sure the turn signal plug in's are the same. But then you have to buy the light socket for the extra light or the daytime running light. The 97-98 sockets cost me about 40 bucks at toyota. Hope this helps.

HAHA Sure you dont want to rephrase that? ;)

I told you that you had to rewire them and also get the sockets for the 97-98 turns.

Yes
"Yes" Well that doesn't help!!!!!! Is this straight forward?
You will need to order the 97-98 style sockets from toyota. The wiring will NOT work with your 94 style plugs. I just did this Tuesday and had to splice and hardwire them in. You can use the small bulb in the new turn signal as your driving light, it is yellow, but you will have to splice and hardwire it from the original location. I just used both bulbs in the signal as turn indicators.

A little tip, the newer style signal does not have the top lock down bolt. I found mine was "bouncy" at the front of the signal. Just use some 3m double sided foam tape along the front edge. Cant see it and it will hold forever.

Good luck!
You are replacing the amber turn signals with the factory '97-'98 white (amber turns in the background) units, right?

If so, here was how I did it on a '94 TT from memory two years ago...

I carefully marked and drilled a hole in the bumper port to accept the third mounting screw. Ground wires are already there as part of the existing turn signal wiring. For power to the extra front marker light in the '97 unit - I spliced into the power wire of the driver's side marker light, and then ran another wire from there inside the bumper over to the passenger side for the same purpose. It's been a while, but I remember needing to do some custom wiring on the passenger side since the '97 connectors were different than the '94. I'm no electrician, but I figured it out. So will you, I'm sure. Hope I didn't confuse the issue.

I had no bulb issues that I recall.

Anyone know the part # for those 97/98 turn signal sockets from toyota?

Thanks
