So a few hours ago, while getting some food in a drive-thru I drove past a family walking towards a shop. I didn't give it much notice but upon stopping in the queue of the drive-thru, I overheard a cute little voice barely able to say the word: "Supra!"
I looked at my rearview mirror and saw that a very young child, I'd guess around the ages of 4-5, was tugging on his father's shirt and pointing at the car.
Now, I'm pretty used to people saying things about the car, like the usual comments and gestures, but they are all either adults or teenagers. Never before have I seen such a youngster - a child that's barely able to speak! - recognise and react in such a way to the car. It got me to smile and made my night :p

Just thought I'd share this cute little and unexpected experience I had. I'm sure that a lot of members here have had some unexpected/interesting/strange experiences with the car too, I'd love to read them!

Other minor events I can remember:
  • Occasionally finding another Supra MK4 parked next to mine... This has happened 3 times throughout my two-year ownership and it is one of the best feelings ever! I always grab a photo and the rest of my week is just pure joy.
  • Finding that someone had spilled their frozen coke drink (probably intentionally) over the rear of the car. Luckily no damage, I just washed it off.
  • A little perk I have noticed is that the chances of someone giving way, slowing down, or really doing anything for you are much higher than if you were driving another car. Especially if the driver is of the younger crowd. Its like VIP access :p
  • Seeing people hurriedly pull out their phones to take a photo or video of the car as I drive past still makes me smirk hahaha

Aw man I also got the soda car wash treatment. I was in the city for a few hours and when I came back I noticed a sticky puddle on my hood and headlights. Real fine people in seattle.

I had a guy literally run on top my dads supra once when we were inside a store. Like he jumped on the hood and ran from the front to the back, had to get a new hood after since his fat ass crushed it
Wow wtf... I hope you got some justice

Also, admins, feel free to delete this thread, I moved it into the one that T6 suggested. Unless yall are alright with this one floating around in addition to it :)

I have seen everything from people leaning out of their cars taking pictures on the highway to the played out "Is That a Supra?"

I've had more than my share of admiring stares and comments, but the best one was a guy in a 90's BMW 5 series with his girlfriend stopping next to me at a light. The guy just couldn't get enough of my car and kept shouting out the window how much he loved it. I think his girl was a little embarrassed by it and I overheard her ask him if he wanted to get out and ride with me. My wife thought that was cute.

I notice people modify their driving when I'm around and start driving like maniacs.

Then there are the Subaru guys who see my car and speed up to catch me wanting me to race. They will actually follow you around for a while until they realize they are running late for something.

Some of the pickup truck drivers will speed up, pass, cut in front and then drive on the shoulder probably hoping to catch my car with some rocks. Nice.

I very seldom leave the car unattended when I go out. You simply can't when you have something rare and nice. Some people just can't handle it. Always been that way.

Hard for me to understand how someone you don't even know is going to decide to mess with your stuff, intentionally damage something and then just run off. Jr high school stuff.

Yes! I noticed this too!

Yeah, my relative had a 350z parked outside our home about a decade ago and some low-life keyed a line going all the way from the rear lights to the front lights for absolutely no reason at all.
They went so deep that it exposed the metal. Absolute scum.
Also a reason that makes me nervous about getting some expensive wheels... One slash and that's $1000 gone per wheel

Like you said a lot of teens and kids love my car and I've had mostly positive stuff. Once at a stop sign I saw a teen in the passenger seat of his moms minivan with his jaw dropped and staring at my car as I drove past. His didn't know what the big deal was and looked at him weird.

I'm lucky nothing bad happened to mine yet other than people driving like assholes around me like BonestockNA mentioned, then again I don't drive it a lot and keep it garaged most of the time. I honestly feel scared to drive it sometimes because of the possible negative attention it will get and always think of selling it and going to something more low key. Though I know I would regret that like I did my first supra.

Sometimes it gets old...I've said it a thousand times but being the original owner of my mk3. Someday you cannot even get gas without feeling the presence of someone walking over. I will always have a pleasant convo with whoever. But it is not as exciting as it used to be...lol...I got shit to do..Now the little kids alway get the full nerd car effect though..I even let them sit in the car..flip switches..These will hopefully one day be the new car enthusiasts..My 2 boys and girl are all grown but one of them. Total car nerds because of me..So I'll gladly continue helping other kids see the enjoyment of these Toyota gems.

I've had more BRO trucks trying to run me over, or off the road around here vs. anyone admiring the vehicle or walking over to say hi.
Guess that's an "interesting experience".

You guys drive your Supras? I thought they were supposed to take up all the space in your garage, parts strewn about everywhere, while constantly draining your wallet and your energy to have other dreams in life...

I guess that's my "interesting" experience. :p

It might've look like that 9 years ago during the total overhaul thrash. Then came the day when it was back together and it's been smooth sailing ever since with just normal maintenance. Sweet

Lucky! I never did get mine fully sorted out. Turns out R154's and 8k+ rpm aren't a great combo, and my power steering always gave me trouble. Nothing that can't be fixed, just... my car is a TON of work.

We always did find it interesting how many young kids know about these cars though...
