While under my 93 TT hardtop putting a shifter in, I noticed a sticker on the trans right by the fill plug on the drivers side that says "ATF OIL! Automatic-Transmission fluid". Why would that be on the side of a 6 sp trans? Did Toyota change the spec? I'll never put ATF in there, just wondering why that would be there and if anyone else has seen one?

I just looked in my owners manual and found "ESSO ATF Dextron D-21065, TOYOTA GEAR OIL V160 or equivalent." I never realized they recommended anything other than V160 oil.

I think it came up in some past disscussion. The discussions were about what fluid to use for the V160. I think its possibly to use ATF fluid for the standard tranny but manual tranny fluid cant be use for autos. I don't remember too much but, a search might go into details.

I was just kind of curious, never realized it. I never saw the sticker on my 94, thought it may have been an early production change.
