Thats the price you have to pay for owning a bad ass transmission!

What kinda clunk is it? I just got my supra two months ago and i didn't know about the Getrag "clunk". I thought for sure my tranny was bad or something. But, i was told, it's normal for the 6spd tranny in our cars to make clunking sounds that in another car would be trouble.

For the record(again), when i go from the neutral position and then almost put the car in first gear(where you feel resistance),i hear a "clunk" (sounds like near the back of the car). Also, when accelerating hard through the gears(say 3rd to 4th), i can feel a "clunk/thud" like maybe something is shifting around(like maybe a tranny mount blown?), but after posting these observation before, everyone seemed to say that these "clunks" were normal.

All big transmissions behave this way.

Perhaps a Honda would be more in order? :)

I have that same sound like you'd described. :D It doesn't seem to harm the transmission.

Its not like its like its so bad that i'd think about getting rid of it, I was just curious if there was some kind of combo (flywheel, clutch, fluids) that could be a work-around.

heh my Daily Driver is a honda :)

Mine as well. I went to a fellow Supra owner (Radride) and had him test drive my car cause I was worried sick. He got in and said "thats it?":1poke:
I guess it's normal but I could have sworn that there was a throwout bearing gone bad or some loose bolts on the tranny housing or something. Mine makes horrible clunking noise when you are shifting from 1 - 2 at low rpm or just leaving it in 2 and when you let go of the gas there you feel it as well. All seems good when driving spirited so I guess it's normal...I hope.
