from what i know they are the same transmission, getrag v160...i dont know why you would have a german tranny in one and not the other :) i suppose i could be wrong though...

thanks for the info. i wanna know for sure, just in case if i need to replace a tranny. i need to know if the japanese tranny will work fine and all bolts on the US supra.

well think about it this way...the japanese short block and american shortblock are identical...to use differing transmissions, you would need a different bellhousing and flywheel and clutch...it would just cause redundancy and profit loss in the long run.
