you shouldnt really ask which company is better because that is all personal choice. Eclipse subs usually arent as powerful as the jl ones but they hit much lower and have a richer sound to them. the jl ones are very loud and are good for high db numbers. i think the eclipse subs might actually be a little more expensive but i am gett a pair of 12" 88120Ti's they are 1400w and i8 am pushing them with 2 1500w fosgates amps. hits so nice. i dont really know about speakers, which ones are better. i personally love infinitys and that is what i have right now. eclipse makes the best dvd and monitors for your ride but tey are so damn expensive.
i have a taste of both companies. my system runs off an eclipse 7301 double din 5.8in screen head unit with a pair of 8in JL audio 8w6. my mid-highs are boston pros all around. sounds great!

its still running really good! i keep up with my oil changes at every 3000 miles and thats about it. tune ups once in a long while. nothing major except rear wheel bearings and a water pump. thats it. no major problems to the engine or anything else.:)

i need to update my sig...my odo says ~189900 miles.

Thats awsome!!! i know a person that drove a toyota landcruiser untill it had 274,000 miles on it!!! then the engine went out but that is so many miles its unbelievable. you have to love toyota!!!

There is a guy selling an MKIV in FL that has 198,xxx miles on it. Look's mint and he claims it still runs great.

Yeah, my mother has a 99 LX470 with 32 thousand miles on it, and she hopes to get 200,000 out of it before we sell it. I had a 87 Saab 9000 turbo 5 speed before my maxima and that had 227,000 miles on it and still went 140+ mph consistently. (did a new turbo at 190,000 cause bearings were starting to get bad) I hope to own a 98 supra TT Targa 6 speed after my max in a few years

it really all depends on what you're looking for and your price range. i know eclipse's are overpriced esp. the titanium subs. the only eclipse subs i'd get are the alums. the alums get fairly loud and have a sweet sound. for jl...either my subs...hehe...or w6's. w3's have the capability of getting a lot louder but the w6's seem to have a slight sq edge. also the w6's need smaller box requirements then w3's. both jl's would be cheaper than the eclipse alum or titanium. so with that said on subs...i wouldn't choose either company to for amps. eclipse is plain out sorry and jl is way way overpriced. i would look into autotek/crossfire/mmats/dei/jbl. these brands are great for subs...but only some have good amps to power components or speakers really nicely. please ask a more direct question so it'll be easier to answer. good luck.

I love JL stuff. Well at least their subs. Amps are ok, speakers are ok, But their subs rock.

I hit 151.1 decibels with this setup... At half volume, untuned...
