Sun, 24 Jun 2007 Return to the String of Pearls
As usual, we're meeting at 10am, and leaving at 11am.

http://www.the-winding-road.com/modules/eguide/event.php?eid=19

I know the 1st anniversary is the Paper anniversary, but I couldn't think up a good sounding name for the drive that included paper.

For June we're returning to the drive that started it all. The String of Pearls, aka Whidbey Island. It's hard to believe we've been at this for a year (granted, under another guise to start), but we have.

Special Thanks to 05TiGr8Lady for the pre-lunch portion of the drive. This was a great way to get onto the island, so mess with it.

Overview map is up, directions are finished. As of right now there are 5 cars registered, and don't think any of them are Supras. You know you want to join us.

1 week to go. The Route Flip Charts are almost ready to go to press, so if you want one, please register sooner rather than later. I used Kinko's in April, but that was pricey, so I really need to use a proper printing press this time around, which means lead time. I'll have a couple extra copies.

Of course, whether you register or not, you're welcome to come. Just remember, once the registered drivers get their Route Books, it's first come first served.

Last chance to register. Online registration closes at 10:00 tomorrow morning. It's not necessary to register, but it does help.

Wait a minute, there were 4 non RX-8's there. Honestly, it's only mostly 8's 'cause that's how we started. But everyone is invited. It's about the driving. It's just too bad we've yet to have a Supra show up. I'd expected the Ferrari would help demonstrate that's it's not just 8's. :(

^ If I had my car I would have gone, but I also run drag radials so if you guys drive pretty aggressively in the twisties I don't know how well I could keep up or if I'd have any tread left when I got home :)

That looked like a fun drive, but it was a bit further than I wanted to go (I'm at the south end of the Sound). How fast do you guys generally go on these drives? Anywhere near the speed limit? I can't find a piece I need for my V1 so I've had to be careful lately. I'd love to take the Supercharged MR2 out for some playtime though.

Yeah, we occasional pass through the speed limit. We basically drive whatever feels safe without regards for the white signs. Towns, populated areas, school zones and the like get extra respect though. ;)

Sounds fair. :) I'll see about joining you one of these months. Any plans for a drive a bit further south? I'd love to cruise along the coast if there are any good roads there.

Cool. July will have us heading east. I don't have the exact route yet, but I'm trying to avoid I-90 while still heading out that direction.
