Okay so my friends are a bunch of honda people. One is going to purchase a hatch k20 swap. So as you can imagine, me being the one owning the 93 supra TT is hearing a bunch shit talking... I understand that the k20 is like 250hp stock and the hatch is quite a bit lighter than my supra. But i will be at BPU by may and i'm curious to what you guys think about this match up? Have any of you raced a k20? -Tony.

250hp hahaha yeah right then the little kid woke up with a boner. No way in hell I have a BPU still stock twins, stock motor, tran, cage full interior and I run a 11.2@123 I've seen boosted gutted hatch backs not running that fast hahaha

k20 with a fully built motor will run 11s so if you if youre bpu with some nice tires you will easily take him

k20 hatches are no slouch... even faster if its a k24...

they can make 200whp+ easily and hatches weight 1000 pounds + less than a supra

my buddy is building an eg hatch at our house and when it had full interior it weighed 2200lbs with him in it

It's funny because i could show these forum posts and the specs of the two cars to my honda buddys and they will still say the k20 would rip me a new asshole (all bias opinions). At least here on supra forums we are honest about everything and take into consideration everything.... And by honest i mean, honestly our engines = the best. We :whip: other engines. =D

K just tell your friends at the end of the day they are driving a economy car NOT sports car and you could easily sell your supra and buy at least 4 built p.o.s wanna be raced out piston ring leaking, valves guides blown out, fart can car with 4 wheels. Sorry no love for front wheel drive Hondas.

Assuming you are going to be going from a roll, no traction problems, I think you should take him without too much of a problem. If he is boosted or spraying then that's a different story.

Everyone on here LOVES to talk shit about k20s and Hondas but some of them would give single turbo set-ups a run for their money. If you go in the multimedia section there are quite a few videos of Supras losing to hatchs. In your case, like I said, you should win easily. Just make sure you brake boost or you will be playing catchup.

I understand that when you brake boost it helps the spooling process from a roll but can't that amount to a bunch of damage? IE: Warping the rotors and boiling the break fluid? I mean i am going to be running on the stock twinz, is it even worth it to brake boost with the stocks turboss?

Yeah, i've seen what that engine can do in person and it's no joke. But yes, we will be from a roll and i might give it one from a stop as well, just to see what happens.

my cousin had a k20 hatch and he hit a 13.2@106mph with slicks. if you look at the trapspeed...most k20 hatch(stock motor, I/H/E k20) trap around 104-108mph. bpu should trap a lot higher than that. should not be a problem for bpu. watch out for 1st and 2nd gear tho...the k20 will pull HARD the supra

If it's a race from a roll type of thing there's no worries - a bpu supra will beat the k20 hatch everytime. The supra will pull buss lenghts ahead even if the vtec kicks in. :D My friends have k20 hondas so I've raced against them quite alot. Even an N/A tuned and light weight type-r civic was an easy opponent for my bpu supra. FI k20 hondas can be fast though..

I also raced against the N/A tuned type-r with my 716whp single turbo supra (just for fun). The deal was that when the honda guy sees my brake lights he will let of the gas and log the speed. So basically we both let go off the gas at the same time. At this point I was doing 180mph and he was at 125mph. :D

But as said the turbocharged hondas can be quite fast but naturally aspirated are quite easy for a bpu supra. Of course a fully tuned NA k20 hatch might beat the supra but I'm sure there aren't many of those around.

They talk, but the k20s is deff something that can back it up. No worries on my end, but it's good to get a bunch of Supra owners opinions. Hopefully by the end of that race my friend will know what to do... :hail: lol.

How far into BPU are you into and how much boost?

I think something that is being left out is the knowledge of what type of k20 the hatch has. The K20z1 and K20z3 which come on the newer Rsx-s and 06+ Civic Si make about 175-185 whp stock. I know that running full bolt ons and having either K-Pro or the Flashpro can help create about 225whp. Any of the other K20's will make less power, however as other have said, beware of a Frankenstein K20/K24 built motor as these are more powerful. You shouldn't have a problem winning, make sure to run good gas and at least 18psi:chicken:
