License Plate ?

Anyone have similar problem removing license plate? Went to remove Texas License Plate off the back of the rear bumper and seem like the bolts were stripped. Finally got it loose but whatever was on the backside of the fiberglass fell and having trouble figuring out what to do to get my new California plates on. Right now I have 2 holes in the bumper assembly and have no clue as to how to retrieve the clips or nuts or whatever fell inside. Is there any clips or rubber grommets to install that would do the trick for the new plates? Also where to find them?Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The bumper cover is urethane ,the absorber underneath is made of styrofoam. The liscence plate is held on by [2] metal plates with a nut welded to it.the thread size for the bolts is 6mm.The part# for the [2] metal plates is 52121-24020 list price is 3.74 ea.order two of these from your local dealer. To install remove your lower bumper cover retainer, and weasel the two plates into place. Then re-install your tags with new screws[6mm]
Thanks for the reply! I will attempt this sometime soon as I just got my car smog legal and received my new California license plates today and I need to install them on the car. Thanks again.
Avoid frozen/stripped screws.....

Also, to avoid the possibility of having screws freeze/rust/strip replace them with plastic screws. These can usually be bought at any hardware store in all the same sizes and thread. Just don't tighten down excessively for the head could break off or strip the threads.

If you can't find plastic screws simply apply a small dab of an anti-seize lub to the screw before re-tightening.

When the chips are down, the buffalo is empty.

I had a simular problem with my Acura's front plate. The dealer just gave me some push in plastic screws. They are like the plastic things you push into drywall when you want to screw somthing to the wall. But the head on these was like a normal screw's (no hole to screw into). These worked great and were much easier then taking off the entire bumper to replace a $0.50 nut.
I tried to remove the bumper cover and had too much trouble trying to get it to pull free so I aborted trying to get the bumper cover off. What I did was, I went to the Toyota dealer and ordered a couple of push in plastic tab that the car had on the top part of the bumper cover in the center after you raise the liftback. I had to drill the hole in the license plate a little larger for it to work but it worked just great, and it less aggravating trying to pry the clips and the tail lights and lower strip.I thank you all for the suggestions which made it easier to install.
