haha, you have no idea.... I took maybe 200ish pics or so in the hour I could stand being chewed alive by the mosquitos... I set the camera on a tripod and fiddled with the continuous shot delay until I finally started getting decent shots...

If you have a long enough shutter, you should try using a front flash (i.e- immediate flash when the shutter opens) and then the background will expose as the the shutter stays open.

I'm not sure if the camera you are using can do that, but if it can, give it a shot next time
