i've gone through two 7mgte motors in the past year, and now i've decided to go with a 1jzgtte. Where can i find one for a good price and is actually worth buying? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

... but gte doesnt stand for turbo anyways :) Kinda funny :)
Official designation from Toyota

7m-GE Naturally Aspirated
7M-GTE Turbo
2jz-GE Naturally Aspirated
2jz-GTE Turbo

hmmm seems like you could have fooled me with that remark.

i have an extra 5sp just need the bell housing if you can find an auto cheap. I got mine from Driftmotion for 2200 + shipping. I just ordered another 1K in parts so the shipping wasn't so bad :). Check my build thread some time.

I have actually seen it both ways, 1jzgte and 1jzgtte, i think people say it that way to state that it is a twin turbo, but gte doesnt stand for turbo anyways :) Kinda funny :)
Come on people get your facts straight. Here's a little knowledge for you guys who don't know your Toyota engine code meanings yet

The first numeric characters specify the engine block's generation
The next one or two letters specify the engine family
The suffix (separated by a dash) specifies the features of the engine:

Suffix Feature

B Twin SU-style side-draft carburetors
C California-spec emissions
D Twin Downdraft carburetors
E Electronic Fuel injection
F Economy narrow-angle DOHC
G Performance wide-angle DOHC
H High compression like 9.8:1 (example: 5E-FHE)
High pressure charged (example: 2L-THE)
I Single-point fuel injection
J Autochoke (Early models) or unknown pollution control
L Transverse
M Philippines' market (meaning unknown)
N CNG fuel
P LPG fuel
R Low Compression (For 87 and below octane fuel)
S Swirl intake (1980s)
SE Direct injection (1990s)
T Turbocharged
U With Catalytic converter Japan-spec emissions
V Common Rail Diesel Injection (D-4D)
X Atkinson cycle
Z Supercharged

For Example

2JZ-GTE
2 - 2nd Generation Engine In The JZ Engine Family
JZ - The Engine Family it is in
G - Wide-angle dual camshaft
T - Turbocharged
E - Electronically Fuel Injected

I am sorry, i was thinking about car badging, When a car is branded GT, it doesnt mean turbo, sorry.
No need to be sorry. Hell half the people on this forum don't know the meanings of Toyota's engine codes. I get what you're saying though about the GT thing

The first one i blew when my car was completely stock, threw a rod through the block and spun a bearing. The second one is idling at 3k, i checked all the sensors, all the wiring, and the ecu, they all checked out to be fine so i'm not sure what's wrong with it.
