Hi, i have been thinking of moving to Las Vegas for sometime now due to prime real estate in that area. I want to invest in some land out there and build a home. Currently I make around 50k, and want to move over there. How is teh pay over there.

I am a fabricator, can build almost anything
I am a graphic designer, bachelors degree in design
Currently a Ast Mgr @ a UPS call center.

Have lots of managerial skills as well as labor working skills

Is it gonna be hard to find a good job? And how do you like living there?

Thanks for the help

What are looking to do here in vegas? You listed alot of qualification's but not what you are looking for. How much are you looking to make? Where are you looking to buy land and build a home? Do you already have a parcel of land? Vegas land isn't cheap anymore. If you don't mind the drive you can still get land alot cheaper in parumph. If you work @ UPS now couldn't you get a transfer? Just some more info might help.

I am looking to make rigth aroudn the same money or more. I been out there before and i like teh atmosphere and i have alot of family live in california and i want to be closer to them but not too close. I am not really looking to buy out there to make alot of money but i heard its better priced then here in florida. 1500sq ft home 3 bdr 2 bath is going for 250-325k these days in tampa. and i want a nice small home to start and just relax, and spend my late mid to late 20's in a different area.

Whats the cost of living like?

Depending where you live here in vegas dictates your home value. In the 250-325k range, there are plenty homes at that price. Housing has softened up a little lately so the buyer has a little more leverage then in the past. Cost of living is good due to the good wages here in vegas. 50k a year isn't to hard to find. (Casino's, grocery stores, sales, etc.) Food, utilities, etc. are about the same. We don't have state tax like Fla also which is a perk. It's a 24 hour town so it might be tough to relax a little. As long as you don't get caught up in the 24/7 party life or pick up any bad habit's, you can make a good life for yourself out here. You just need to decide what you would like to do out here. I would try to transfer with UPS out here just so you have a steady income stream till you find what you want and maybe rent for 6 month's or so till you find a neighborhood you like here in vegas. Good luck with the move and if you need any more info or help let me know.

I wish, it was possible to stay at my current job and transfer, but they do not have any specific call centers in Vegas. I work for a company in which the Client is UPS. So techniclly i don;t work for them per say but i manage a national call center that deals with their customers, i know all their inner workings and so forth.

As far as the partying, i don;t really have any bad habits, i am more of a bar and chill type person than clubbin and gambling. thank for all teh input i appreciate it

I agree....as far as the bad habits. I go to Vegas about 9 times a year and own 2 houses there. I would love to move there, but I don't think a union plumber there can make $120k/ year. So, for now, i'll stay in San Fran. At least until I'm ready to retire. Then it's sin city for me and MAYBE my wife. (haha)

Yeah your right, you wont make 120k a year here but you'll make about 80-95k depending on OT. The good thing is though no state tax which add's up quick and real estate is ALOT cheaper. If I had the money, SoCal would be my home.

80-95 a year would'nt be bad considering the cost of living. But it just might be too easy to blow it all in the casinos. It's bad enough just going 9 times a year.

That's the reason we don't have state tax! Thanks. :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb:
