What does Low Oil Pressure light actually mean ?

When I start my car the Low Oil Pressure light stays on slightly longer than all the others but then disappears quite quickly.

I will be taking the car back to the garage hopefully on Thursday for them to look at it, but I would like some idea of what the problem may be so that the mechanics don't try it on.

Thanks

Geoff

check your oil level...

mine does it sometimes - but it goes out after a second or two and never comes on again while its running....

if my oil is really full it never seems to do it....

I need to update my profile. When I joined this forum I had a 89 Pontiac Firebird. I joined as I was planning on buying a mkiv supra.

I now have a 1993.5 supra TT and the question I posted is supra related.

Cheers

SiMMo93TT,

I have checked my oil level using the dip stick and it appears to be full.

Replace your oil pressure switch.

Toyota did a design change from the original switch used.

You need part# 83530-60020.

This will cure the "lazy" light.
