Is this good to run in a high performance car? A few people tell me it really adds to the protection for your engine.

synthetic with the correct wt as spec'd by toyota

Lucas.... and after you put that jizzunk in, get some sea foam, STP, and a quart of rear main seal saver and some injector cleaner. Make sure you get as much stuff in the color purple as possible. Purple stuff is the color of clean. Don't forget to add the slick 50 TEFLON. Cause dat's da good shizz.

I like to get all that stuff, put it in a jigger, shake and then put it in the tank. I call it the engine renewal cocktail.

I would not really mess with oil additives. Some say it is good for the seals, but the chance of that foaming scares me a little. I just stick with Royal Purple synthetic.

As for putting anything along the lines of oil additives: About every year, I just put about 2/3 can of sea foam into my crank case and run it for 10 minutes. Then I drain the oil, and noticed that it is much more black.

I guess it can't be all bad?

Interesting thread. My family has owned and operated a truck repair shop for over 30yrs. We have a dyno and have done hundreds of engine rebuilds etc.. In my experience engines running Lucas oil additive at every oil change have outlasted engines that have not. I've seen engines last well over 1million miles that have used it at every change. Even on constructionn equipment that came in for a refresh (bearings rolled etc..) at the recomended service interval that ran lucas usually the bearings came out looking almost new (pending any dirt in system or service intervals etc.)

I know I know these examples are not from a supra but they are used in heavy load applications. Needless to say I'm not surprised at how many owner operators request lucas in their rears, transmissions and engines with the price of oil these days. I run it the Lucas synthetic additive in my supra (.5qt per change) and like it over the conventional lucas we sell here since it seems to be of a slightly lighter viscosity.
