I've bought a set of ACL bearings (normal type) and as you know they only come in a "std" size and an oversize one. I went with the std size as my crank is stock.

However, when I bought the berings I were told that if the plastigauging showed that they were out of tolerance, I should just machine the bearings themselves!

has anyone ever done this to a set of ACL berings?

my understanding is that all bearings have a coat on them that you really dont want to mess about with.

whats up and down on this matter?

are you a little bit tight? i have used scotchbrite pads to "massage" the bearing down a little bit if im .0005 tight. anything over that machine the crank, not the bearing
