I'm trying to figure out if I somehow did something wrong or if mine just doesn't fit like the others.

I'm having 2 issues. First the carpet does not really fit over the speaker like it does in other pictures I've seen. This causes a huge bubble and makes the carpet too short to reach the back of the trunk.

After removing the grill the result was the same

My question is are people cutting thier carpet to get the fitment as shown here:

I'm not wanting to cut my carpet on my car so hopefully there's something I"m missing.

Other issue is it seems you can no longer run the cardboard piece that keeps the carpet flat over the spare tire. Do you have to cut this as well to get it to fit nicely?

It looks like you're tucking the carpet too low behind the sub. Don't try to lay the carpet flat against the sub box - it wasn't made to fit the curved surface. Just line up the hole for the sub first, then lay the carpet around it as well as you can, but don't worry if there are air pocket bulges to the sides of the sub near the seats. If you're anal about that like me, you'll have a custom carpet made to fit.

Do not cut the discontinued trunk carpet. I personally wouldn't modify the cardboard under it either. Fab up a custom 1/4" MDF replacement if you need to. $10 and doesn't require cutting a part of the car.

Keep an eye on the group buy here for (hopefully) custom trunk carpet, with an option for the magic box:

The last group buy for floor mats was excellent, so I plan on getting a trunk mat for it.

I wish I had my original trunk carpet to have your problem. Would it be a possibility to tuck the carpet under the sub enclosure?
