Making temporary hoses..........

547 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  SyCK
When I changed the spark plugs, I split both crankcase hoses

No local dealership had them in stock, so I had to order them. One of them is on back order and it might take a few days or longer. I need my car this saturday so I was just gonna clamp on a temporary peice of hose. Bad idea?

You should be fine.

By the way, I have both those hoses, brand new. Email me if you want them.

What I did is to go to a local auto parts store and cut two hoses the same size and length, and replace just fine.
Exactly, they usually have fuel hose or heater hose in various sizes to buy. Just bring the stock one up there and match it.

It's hard if not impossible to match generic hoses to these valve cover breather hoses.

They come pre-shaped from the factory, and if you try and use a standard straight hose and bend it to reach from one cover to another it will bend itself sharply (in two spots) and block air flow.

True, I had done it with very little creasing though. It's was just a suggestion for temp useage while his factory ones were on backorder as well. I ultimately went back to the stock units when the motor was built.
