Just bought a MAP ECU setup along with VPC/BCC that I'm going to be running on my 2jz S13. I'm trying to do some research on what fuel system I'm going to go with because I want to buy it all the first time and not have to look back. Here's what I'm lookin at, it's a kit about to be offered by MVP Motorsports on Zilvia through PHR I think?:

ID1000 Fuel Injectors
Aftermarket Rail
Aftermarket Lines (-6,-8 I can't remember)
Duel Walbro 255 Pumps
Aeromotive Regulator

Being the MAP is a piggyback, is this too much fuel system for the car? Also, is anyone running e85 with the MAP ECU? I tried searching but couldn't find much info.

MAP ECU 2 I assume? You wont need the VPC if you run MAP ECU. That's a good setup and room to grow. There are a few members here that run e85 with Map ECU2 maybe they will chime in.

I know SALEENGTROUSH runs MAP ECU and E85 you should PM him.

i just got off a MAP ECU 1 with 1000cc injectors on e85 , car made 700whp you can look up the thread on here i even provided my tune. If not go into mapecu forum my screen name there is "m3onjuice".

The limitations are pretty simple.

1. The stock ecu will fight your tune so closed loop tuning is dificult.
2. you are limired to the injector size ( 1000cc is max )
3. if you have a MAPECU1 you canot touch the timing.

other than that it performs well , its a glorified AFC but it does the job. You dont need that VPC but a boost cut defender or speed cut is going to be needed.

currently on a mapecu2 1200 cc injectors on e85 (i used a 850cc gas base map and it was rather close) i run the car in open loop 100% of the time. i like it cuz it is super easy to tune.

yup just unplug the o2 sensor. you will get a cel but it beats the hell out of the closed loop constantly messing with your tune

But if something drastic happens, the ECU won't be able to do anything to save the motor, because it doesn't have a clue what's going on, right?
closed loop is for cruising only. it is reading the narrow band o2 sensor that is shooting for stoich (14.7 for gas) and making changes to your long term fuel trims (basically changing the base fuel map) thus throwing off your wot tune. remember a map-ecu is ONLY a piggy back it changes the signal from the ecu if the signal from the ecu is changed the end result will be changed as well. if you never let the ecu go into closed loop it will never make changes to the long term fuel trims. and your tune will not slowly change.
now if you really want to get fancy you can get the map-ecu2 and use its o2 correction but that is a whole new can of worms lol

Interesting, thanks for the info man. Lol no wonder the whole part of the fuel map that's bellow 4000rpm kept changing on me.

AFAIK, only OBD2 cars are harder to tune. If you have an OBD1 car and keep the tuning changes around 3800 and higher RPM, you won't have to worry about ever changing anything. I currently am still running the stock MAF and an SAFC, but this summer I am going to get rid of the MAF and try out the MAP ECU until I can save for the PRO EFI.

How are you running 1200cc injectors? I thought that larger than 1000cc injectors pulled too much current and hurt the factory ecu? Do explain.

technically since he is ruuning 1200 cc injectors on e85 he is probably on a 800-950cc injector map so the ECU does not know.
bingo i started with a 850 map and pulled out a fair amount.

I am running a 1993 2jz jspec with the biltz access ECU so there is no speed cut, fuel cut, boost cut, and rev limit is set to 8000rpm. i was thinking of adding a map ecu-2 and i was wounding if anyone else is running this combo, and how this combo would work together. would i need anything else?
