MAP vs MAF

I got a 98 Japanese spec Supra and was wondering what the difference between the MAP and MAF air sensors was? Is one better than the other? How should this affect my upgrade choices? Currently mostly stock. Have exaust, getting Boost controller and intake installed this weekend, Downpipe in a few weeks.
Little off the subject but...
Any recomendations on a downpipe? Will one from the US fit my car?
