MIR Sunday

Went to MIR for some runs before going to the Great
Falls Supra meet Sunday. I had tracked down my boost
leak Saturay and wanted to see how she would run. It
was a great day to run, temps were 60 deg.
I went for a "get aquainted" run. No burn out, easy shifts,
etc. Ran a [email protected] mph. The ET may not have been
the best but it was my first run over 120 mph. I was happy.
2nd run. No cool down(too excited) ran a [email protected]
with a missed second gear shift. I decided to pit for a cool
down but the 98 RATA I was pitted beside wanted to run me
so we went. Only 11 minutes between the 2 runs according
to my time slips. I pulled an [email protected] with a 1.827 60'.
I was really getting optimistic now. I pitted and got a bag
of ice and gave the car a 25 minute cool down. I had left on
the previous run at 5500 rpm with very little spin, so I heated
the tires well and left at 6000 this time. I was looking for a
1.6 sec sixty foot time but what I found was the limit of the
stock clutch. Smoked it. I ran a couple more times after the
clutch had cooled down(12.058 and 12.073) with less aggressive
launches but with the track hooking that well on a 60 deg
day I had hoped for a 11.60 run. Oh well, it was fun and I did
finally break 120.
On a side note. I was very impressed with the RATA I raced.
He only had bolt ons and a Vigilante 3600 converter and at the
1/8 th he had me 7.73 to my 7.77. He said he was surprised
how well a Supra with only exhaust, intake and boost pulled
through the last half of the race. He pulled a 1.64 sixty foot
time on that run!
Thanks for reading,
Wayne

Nice driving man....congrats...now go get a new WOTM clutch and take care of business!!

Jay
LOL. Yeah, my "stock clutch is best" theory took a
major crap. I will probably go with the TRD Turbo clutch
(very similar to RPS 2 ?) since I'm still under Toytota
extended warranty.
Thanks,
Wayne
G
damn wayne, you did some driving on sunday -- harrissonburg - MIR - Great Falls! Wow! that's a great trap for those mods, actually that's a great trap and et for those mods!!

Actually, i think the TRD turbo clutch is just like the rps turbo clutch, upgraded pressure plate with a stock disk. I had it in my car and it held up great, i didn't do crazy launches like you did but it lasted well over 15k on my car.
Lester,
Thanks. And thanks for the info as well. Yeah, the mileage
would not have been so bad but I got lost coming from MIR
to Great Falls. I ended up in Bowie, Md. How I could get lost
when Rt 301 goes right to 495 I don't know. :) Wish I had
made it to the Meet earlier. Still, I got to see many of the
gang if only for a little while.
Thanks,
Wayne

BTW, 439 miles total. Still less than Henri, Annie and Aaron had
to travel though. Those 3 are maniacs! :)
Not another 11 second pass... Good traps and times! I got my new disk in Saturday and I have a hundred miles to get on it before I go to the track this week. I hope to join the 11 sec. club soon. I'm trying out a new Kevlar disk soo it's trial and error. We'll see how it goes.:)

Matt
Thanks Matt. If you want to hit MIR for test and tune
before the Nov 11th shootout let me know. With the
trap speed youalready had you will go easy 11's with
the new clutch. I have to get some cam gears!
Thanks,
Wayne
Yeah..here's hopin'. Let me know if you get cam gears. I can refer you to someone to buy them from.

I may be going to Cecil tonight if I can get a couple more miles on the clutch. I'll email about MIR soon and my times if I go to the track this week.

Matt
Matt,
Just noticed your signature. When did you get the
11.80? The 12.19 you ran against me at MIR had been
your best. Give us all the slip numbers. Damn, I can see
I'll have to go back to the track. Need at least a 11.79
now. :) Congrats!!!

What's up buddy??

Last night at Cecil

Check the thread Tony started....

My slip

60' 1.80
330 4.983
1/8 7.615
mph 93.28
1000 9.896
1/4 11.807
mph 118.51

I had a 1/2 tank of 93 octane and mixed 2 gallon of 110. I managed to break the 120 mark on the run before this one. It's too early to tell but so far I love the clutch.
