Hey, I tried it out. They fit very well. The only thing is, you have to remove the circular piece of metal on the back of the caps to get it to fit. This piece is not 100% necessary on the MKIV rims as they are a tight fit without them.
As far as potholes go, I don't know if you will lose the centercaps. They seem to fit as tight as they do on the stock 5 spokes, however, they do not have the circle metal which provides tension in the centercap to rim contact. I tried a slight modification by cutting the ring, then redoing it shorter, but it was of no help. Does anyone have pics of the MKIV centercap's backside?
