ok this winter im planing or a fresh start on my motor (rebuild),
my car has 86,000 some what miles well the car smokes a little at start up and since i plan on putting in my single i was wondering should i

1.rebuild the whole motor (it will run me 4,500 with labor but not including the new water pump and oil pump )but i get a 3year warrenty unlimited miles

2.rebuild just the short block and thow in the new water and oil pump this will run me around 3000 bucks??but i only get a 5 month warrenty!

buy a new short block for 2000-rebuild the head and be done with it. You could than sell your old short block and recover some of the money. Toyota builds the tightest engines out there-it is very hard to reproduce their tolerances. If you are not building up the engine(forged pistons, rods, etc) your best bet will be a new short block, esp at the price they are.
