My Hood won't close w/ Akimoto Strut Bar...

995 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  RSA Supra
I recently purchased an Akimoto front strut bar from a forum member (no names). The strut bar fits perfect with the hood up; unfortunately, I can't close my hood. It hits on both sides. Any help to make this work would be greatly appreciated...or should I just return it and get my money back.

I have completly removed the engine hood lining to try and make it fit. Will it damage the hood "paint" to leave the lining off?

PLEASE HELP!!!

Could the bar be installed in reverse somehow accidentally?
Already checked that...it's installed correctly.
Damn Mr. Akimoto was always screwing something up................

Sorry - couldn't resist.

I don't know about the bar - I'm moving this to Tech for better response.
Did you try to ask the guy that you bought this strut from? :uzi:

If everything else fails you can always drive with the hood up...:D JK
Did you make sure you removed the plates from the top of the shock tower, so the brace should set directly on the shock tower?

I'm sure you have probably already done this if you have removed the insulation from the hood, but thought I would make sure.
