Hey, I just got new rims on my supra. They are: in the front 17x8 ssr gt1 and on the backe 17x9 ssr gt1. I was wondering how much faster this would make a completely stock '97 supra tt auto. It seems to picking up pretty fast. Also, how fast should my car do the 0-60, I have heard around 5.2 seconds.
Thanks,
Chris

why would you get smaller rims ????
G
they may be 17x8.5 and 17x9.5 in the back im not really that sure but they were the only rims i could find that fit my wheel's, and i just got a new set of potenza's- kind of expensive, so i wanted them to fit the wheels
Uhhhhhh, huh?

How do you think they are going to make your car faster? Do the wheels come with mini jet rockets attached? :dunce:

lighter rims equals quicker acceleration smartass
No shit, PuSsY PuSs...

"lighter rims equals quicker acceleration smartass"

It takes approximately 100 pounds of weight reduction on a 3500 pound car to reduce your quarter mile time by almost 0.1 second. Do you think his new 17" wheels are 100 pounds lighter than his old ones? Do you think he will even notice a 0.1 second decrease in ET? Of course not, dumbass. :dunce:

Less brain matter equals stupid newbie. :flipo:

Stick some wheels that were intended to be lighter, such as Weld wheels or Bogarts, and you may notice quicker acceleration...

muahahaha thanks for the laugh fyrarms :D

ok asshole the wheels themselves dont have to be 100 pounds lighter...a small reduction in the weight of each wheel will make a big difference...i dont know the exact math but rims that are say 8 pounds lighter each will make much more of a difference then taking 32 pounds of weight out of the back of your car

True, but I think less rotational mass equates different than less dry weight. I still don't think *these* new rims are gonna make much difference at all though.

The reason i asked that questions was because before i got these rims, which are a lot lighter than the last, i never spun out but now i do it all the time when not even trying.....why are so many of yall ass wholes, but thanks to the once who honestly answered my questions, about everything i just asked a simple question, sorry i dont konw as much about cars as you guys, which is why i look at this site anyways.

Good talk, i am same to you,
but i know you will suprise how potential power your supra has when you keep upgrade your car!!!
thanks
G
a decrease in rotational mass makes a pretty big difference because it will require less force to turn the wheel (torque). not to mention the difference this could make in handling also. this is why so many people go for the Volk TE-37. This is free power, the engine isn't making "more" power, it's just using it more efficiently.
G
oh, the reason you spin out isn't because you are making more power, it's because with the smaller rim the contact patch for the tire is significantly smaller, smaller tire means that you have substantially less *grip*, therefore your likelihood of spinning out increases.
Do you have a picture with the rims on your car?I want to get the SSR GT1'S on my 95N/A in 18in though 18x8 in the front and 18x9 in the rear

Thanks Mike
