If it's for the Supra, I am pretty sure the stock speakers are Nakamichi units.

I know that Nakamichi speakers are the some of the best that they could make. I would stay away from their amps though... :)

Let me give everyone a brief history of Nakamichi products.

In the beginning, they were sold at high end specialty retailers only. (Both car audio and home audio gear)

They were "helped out of financial trouble" by Sony.

They then went to the specialty retailers ,who had supported them since day one, and told them they were no longer authorized to sell Nakamichi products. They were now going to sell their stuff exclusively at Best Buy. GENIUSES!!

Basically, Nakamichi told us to "F**k off!!

Best Buy had their stuff for a few years and had SERIOUS problems with their products. Major product failures. Many pissed off customers. I can't say I wasn't laughing the entire time...

It became so bad that Best Buy then told Nakamichi to "F**k off!"

Nakamichi then said this... "Now what are we gonna do? We already "burned our bridges" with the specialists! Now who is gonna sell our stuff?

Some genius at Nakamichi said,"Internet and anyone who we didn't piss off in the past!" (Not many retailers will touch it with a 10 foot pole!)

Bottom line is this....that company has been up and down like a $10 hooker. Their stuff USED to be good and of reputable quality.

Now all they have left is a "shred" of a name.

That is it.

Oh yea.. One more thing.

The speakers in a MKIV are not 'Nakamichi' speakers.

The closest Toyota has been to 'Nakamichi' is with the Lexus stuff of old.

It was an "upgrade" from the "Pioneer" equipment on Lexus vehicles.

That also is a story in itself. Rather long and I would rather not tell unless someone has to know.

You CAN purchase better car audio equipment than "Nakamichi" products.

That is all I will say.
