Pretense --- I feel badly for the organizers of last years meet for how they were treated and how much they personally lost on our part. Also, I am a overworked college student that wouldn't have all that much time.

However, I am guaging interest to form a new team of organizers to bring the meet to Long Island.

I already went through a plan making it a four day meet -- Thursday through Saturday

Nassau Coliseum Parking lot for show and contests
Edison Ave for a day of police supported legal street racing
Day at the Beach in Long Beach with Police Escort and Show parking
Dyno day @ L&T in queens
HEADS UP --- Drag Racing at renovated Long Island Motorsports Park

Just fielding ideas to see who would be able to support me in my venture to help bring this event to fruition.

1hr 45min as long as you don't take the James and Steph way of getting there... ha ha ha

If a moderator can make this sticky I would appreciate. Dave C isn't around at the moment.

Should this be in General, or do you want it stuck in Mk3?
MKIII based and then I have anchors in each section to guide them in. No one goes in general.

the guys arent organizng it any more from last year?
No, they were disheartened from last year when they lost all their invested money and no one participated or showed up at the show and shine.

The drive to NJ was enough from Toronto... not sure we'd haul to Long Island or not. I will keep an eye on the plans though.

Wow, you mean I really get to be a spectator... Man, that's gotta be marvelous :) .
Note, a majority of the previous meet organizer resided no where close to the venue, that is, Central New Jersey. We were fully considerate of the traveling route and journey most would take to arrive to the venue destination. Shucks, it was a 2hr ride for me. So if you intend on it to be a National event, this should be utmost. Also, Long Island is a culdesac, and it may be discouraging to cross the Hudson bridges or Manhattan tunnels just to get there.
But eh, do whatever. Like I said, I'm looking forward to just being a participant :).

Howard.

Boostin88T I can appreciate your quote. But your just going to put yourself in the same shoes they did. Don’t get me wrong I think its great you have heart for the supra community and love your car. I have always supported the supra events and participated in them. But most of these guys on the NE don’t. It shows from past event turnouts and comments. The last supra meet was scheduled the same day the dsm meet. There was about five times as many dsm's to supras. I believe eighty-three dsm's signed up for drag racing. There were ONLY eight supras. No one really dynoed at SPI. I know rx-7 guys that drive five hours to go to events. People complain about a one to two hour drive, give me a break we have one event a year. NE events are a waste of time no one shows and no one races. If they do show they just bitch about how this supra meet sucks and how cool there car is. We the supra owners make these events what they are. It's a shame what this past events have turned into. We have no one to blame except ourselves.

I'd go... I went to the last to NJ meets, even though my Supra didn't .... I don't know about going to E-town.. to much logistics involved I think. But the rest of it sounds like a good idea.

I feel bad for Howard and the rest of "The Meet" organizers. E-town and the previous month of rainy weather really screwed us Supra guys this year. No doubt the car will finaly be done by spring this year.... so I'll be at every meet I can get to :D

i dunno. ive made the long journey from kentucky to new jersey since the first meet. at no fault to howard e town was a wreck. they stuck us way out in no man's land. it was super crowded. the staff was far from nice. i got 2 runs in on a boost controller that wasnt working.
id still like to make my one major event tho. i guess it depends on how this national meet goes.
but you know i usually make the long journey not because of the supras. or the show and shine. or the drag racing. but for the supra owners themselves. lot of awesome supra owners up that way and that is my one time a year to hang out with them. but when the meet goes as planned it makes it even more worthwhile.
take care

Sounds good to me, I'll be there...supporting the effort regardless of previous events. It's all about the love for the car.
