I'm pretty much looking for a daily driver with:

1. fuel economy (4cylinder or lower)
2. Reliability.
3. Cheap! (less than $1500)

Please don't give me any import this or import that, the problem with them is that everyone wants one and their price is higher than it actually worth. IE honda, toyota, nissan.

So i'm pretyt much looking for an underdog domestic that no one really look into. Lower demand = more chance of me getting a great car for cheap.

domestic and reliability don't go together

Hondas and Toyotas are worth every penny, not over valued at all. You get what you pay for.

WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? You can find a ton of imports for under $1500! Corollas, Stanzas, Sentras, Altimas, Maximas, Camrys, Celicas, MR2s, Civics. Accords, any of those will do just fine.

My friend's neon when through 4 headgaskets and 2 complete engines. Even at $1500 its not worth it.
my friend bought a 30k neon for 3k and has put another 30k miles on it no problem...what's your point?

edit: and if he went through 4 headgaskets id say he didnt repair it right...

you can't bring up one person's personal experience and have them speak for tens of thousands of others. this was the point I was trying to make earlier.

the fact that your Z has hit over 200k doesn't mean much, as i'm sure that there have been others who have had quite the opposite experience, but there individual experiences alone don't serve as the final word on the car.

My 98 blazer with 140k never left me stranded either, but at that mileage I had to start replacing lots of suspension parts. Also the throttlebody broke and was stuck at WOT and I still was able to make it home, but had to tow it to a mechanic. Overall though it was a good vehicle.

That is such a worthless lie. Hondas and Toyotas are devalued by the yen to allow the corporations to buy into their government subsidies btw, making their cars undervalued. If you want a domestic so bad the Ford Taurus from as recent as 98 goes for almost $2000. Grand marquis and Victorias go for even less, new one's fuly loaded can be had for almost 20. Standing taxi and NYPD use here is tough enough on any car, but they regularly reach mileage so high the odometer can't keep track anymore.

My point is that every car maker out there has its fair share of POS. My previous car, a 91 MR2 turbo had all sorts of problem. Ended up selling that and get my current car and have never looked back.

I 2nd the taurus...if you find one with decent mileage and service records, and you take care of it, theres no reason it cant meet your needs. Grand marquis's and crown vics though very rugged, probably wont give him the gas mileage hes looking for. I'll also throw another vote the dodge neon's way. the 2.4l engine used in those cars are pretty durable contrary to alot of peoples beliefs, and low mileage fairly new ones can be had for dirt cheap, and would fit your needs probably perfectly.
